The ICT Platform Health Care (IPZorg) was created as a result from an agreement between the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sports (VWS) and the field of health care. They play a coordinating and stimulating role in the use of information- and communication technology (ICT) in our health care. A large number of parties from the field of health care participate in this platform board in order to come to joint agreements on the way in which ICT-applications can be executed. A Declaration of Intent was signed by the participating parties September this year, but with the exception of the dental profession in the Netherlands. Moreover one of the main important initiatives being mentioned concerned the introduction of a ´care-card´, offering access to the electronic patient file.
